Everyone, take a trip in your mind. Think about hauling ass down the road in a 700 horsepower S2000 with a screaming turbo Hayabusa beside you, in the top of the gears towards the 150mph range. . Well, Jeff’s experience took a turn for the wall, at the peak of that 150mph car vs bike run! Now he is back with a new build aiming to crush a lot of egos!

Most of you guys have seen the videos on the net of cars doing these insane highway pulls like the Texas and Florida Supra boys. Imagine hitting the wall or running off the road, flipping, etc at the peak of that pull after losing control or a blowout. Shit sounds like a crazy ride that one certainly wont walk away from doesn’t it. Jeff has first hand experience in this department, in his original S2k from Hell build, and has came back in full drag trim to pick up where his beast of a street car left off.

S2k seems to be the new car to build. Chevy LS- motors (Greasy loves LS# blocks), Toyota 2jz swaps, Nissan SR&RB blocks, and even Dodge motors, these chassis seem to be getting the royal treatment to fit anything. Is it the next foxbody, probably not, but for a street car where you can ride with the top down it makes for a nice platform to play with.

What made you come back after such a wild accident: Man that accident scared the shit outta me. I dont know if many people know the details behind that accident but i’ll let Greasyblocks in on what happened. I’m from a decent size city with a decent size car scene. I had ran through majority of these cars down here on the street. I’m sure everyone seen my video, S2000 From Hell. Well alotta people around here got a little pissed off with car, mainly them domestic people, and it really got outta hand. I had shit coming out the wood works to race. Well we would have a monthly cruise/meet and what not down here, so at the next cruise after that video hit we were out and it was probaly one of the biggest cruises we had seen. There was probably 30 or so cars cruising? Well the cruise was like a 20-30 mile cruise and at one point there is like a 3 mile two lane bridge. I was leading the cruise, car on race gas and making all the power it could, and a busa came around the pack and got next to me. We were going about 40 and punched it and man around 150 or so we went to shut down and he came on his brakes hard. Last thing I remembered was either hitting him on that back tire cause we were so close or locking up the brakes. I locked em up and spun that thing like a top and bounced off a couple walls. Car was paid off and I made some money off it. I thought about parting everything else out and just being done with car’s but I think around that time Inline Pro lifted the wheels and redstar went 8’s. I said to myself mannnnnn I cant quit now. So I took it up a notch and went back to work.

What do you think about the s2k chassis for drag racing: So many people like to talk noise about using this chassis for drag racing but I dont really understand why? Yea, honda designed it to be a road race type car but then again I dont think honda designed the civic or integra chassis to run 8 second quarter miles, did they? People can say what they want but you can’t argue a 2200lb drag car making 800-1000whp and being RWD. Alot of the s2k crowd is an older generation and are more intrigued into auto x or road racing but they are doing the same thing we are by cutting up there chassis to being lighter and what not. So what gives them the right to knock us for what were doing? RWD, Lightweight, Big power and now a very large aftermarket….Enough said

Plans for it: I’ve done more to this car then I can remember! I’m gonna try and not forget anything but it’s quite possible that somethings may get left out.

• Went from a stock block to a built long block with all the good stuff inside
• Ditched the PPG tranny and i’m now rocking a TH400 automatic built by Rossler
• Switched out that Inline Pro R200 diff setup and went to a Custom 9 Inch setup with Strange double adjustable coilovers, wilwood brakes and DSS hooked up me on the driveshaft.
• No more stock wheels and drag radials. Car has been tubbed and running a 15×12 wheel and a 28 inch tall tire
• Tony got me talked into this Kinsler Intake Manifold. Damn he’s good at persuading me!
• Swapped out from the S372R to something a little bigger
• Car has been caged for 8.50’s and I hope it needs that 25.5 after it’s dialed in.
• All new fuel setup
• Alot more fab work from T1..

Where we will see you next: Man i’m dying to race. I havent been to IFO since April 09 where I raced last. My last pass down the track was a 10.40@140. I’ve got the fever to race again. I even stayed off Honda-Tech for a while because I couldn’t stand to see the events coming up. I’m going to finish this thing up and hit every ifo within 12 hours of me. I wanna goto Etown or any big race. I’m trying to break out this year. I’m trying to do it big. It’s gonna happen. I’m gonna be out ASAP @ the track only. Done with the street.

Close it out: I can’t say thanks enough to the friends that have made me keep my head in the game and keep working on this thing. I’ve had more then enough haters to tell me that this thing will never run and that im building a failure. It’s cool though, I’ve stuck through it and i’m doing my thing. This far into it I dont think anyone can bring me down. I don’t think people realize man, I started this project as a kid and i’m doing this on my own. No one is giving me anything and no one is helping pay for this.

Really and honestly this car wouldnt became what it became with out Tony and rest the guys at T1. Man Tony has been more then helpful through this whole project. He’s taken very very good care of me and the car. I couldn’t say thanks enough. Those are some good ass people over there at T1.

Last but not least, I’m coming out to be competitive. That being said Red Star is on my radar and that’s my goal….I look forward to seeing some fast ass s2000’s.

I’m about to get busy on this car and well be ready very very soon…That being said LETS RACE

Jeff’s S2k will have purist punks reaching for their online razorblades and will have drag junkies sipping on his kool-aid! I cannot wait to see this guys videos! From what I hear, there are a few forums with hate threads and tons of negative comments about Jeff and his hellion.

1. S2k from Hell: Progress to the Mayhem!

Ant or Ahobbs as know around the net has started off 2011 selling off parts in bulk from his 2 year build, and going nuts with new go-fast parts! If he were in the Carolina’s it would be said that Ahobbs went full HAM on his shit! Mister Hobbs would like to reintroduce himself!

Hobbs seems to be a regular here around Greasy. His coupe is one of the strongest statements around our modern import scene, minimizing the effort of JDM parts, meet pictures, and tucked bays. Instead, he spends his time sitting at the Firehouse working on small bits and pieces to make his car stand in a class of its own. And, for the fact that Ant’s car is a full street car, this seems to be impressive as of late. True, there are many others driving high horsepower Honda’s around, but to see a car built to this level and to see it still used for the fun, not to sit in a garage or trailer and wait for races, is what is the most impressive part.

Greasy is following many racers this year, but following Ahobbs aka “I work with fire” on his quest to become what he sees himself as in his mind will be a treat. I mean, the man obviously has done something right. His setup has been a staple in the newest builds currently.

What made you change parts on your current build: All of this was an accident and a butterfly effect. Well, I really didnt plan on changing much on the car until after November. I was highly disgusted with “PeakBoost” and how he did people. The parts were great and he did what needed to be done but leaving people hanging and taking peoples hard earned money doesn’t fly over well in my book. Full-Race had always told me “when your ready, Let us no. We aren’t going anywhere” Finally decided to jump on board without selling any of my old stuff. There work cant be touched! Hands down top in the industry and its a reason why they are a tad more expensive but they stand behind their parts. Tony Palo had a 4yr old full race mani and they warrantied it when a wastegate cracked…WTF. I don’t know one company that will do that or been around long enough to do it. So after I went full Race I had to get a new turbo. I went ahead with the precision 6765…(the rest of the turbo specs later). twin scroll dual 44’s and so on. (finally stepped up to a real deal setup. Then i thought I was Done. Then one day Im looking on MoTeC’s site and they have this new M84 coming out. Well, T1racedevelopment happen to have one and Tony was making a PnP harness for it! That cuts half the price of MoTeC. You still pay motec money but you dont have to pay for that expensive extra milspec harness. Well I kinda slipped up on that. I could go on with this story. Not to many times do I have the opportunity to upgrade the top notch parts and work with well known companies that back you 100% and willing to help you achieve your goals.

What all have you changed on the car so far since the last time we saw it on Greasy: Geez hope I Dont forget anything,
ok changed to:

• Full-race twin scroll dual MVR 44mm wastegates custom FR DP and Dumptubes all HPC black coated (bling stuff is too hard to keep clean)
• Precision Billet 6765 twin scroll
• New custom-Setrab Intercooler core
• Injector Dynamics-2000cc
• Dual Intank Pumps-still waiting on them to be released. -8feed and -6 return
• T1 Ultimate ignition Kit (cam trigger M&W Pro14)
• MoTeC M84 T1 PnP kit with all motec senors and Custom accessory harness advance options
• MoTeC ADL Dash with Motec PnP Autosport dash connecter
• two mac boost solenoids (one controls the top of the wastegates and the other controls the bottom)
• New 12in Spal Fan….Blows the 13in out the water. Texas heat is tuff!
• New Koyo radiator
• Full Race Pro-Am traction Bars
• Avid Solid Racing mounts
• upgraded to some ARP exhaust studs courtesy of Import DPS

I think that’s it…im sure im missing some thing(s).

Plans for it: Well The plans are still the same. I just want to be a competitive racer. When I pull up to the line or better yet when i show up at the race I want them to think “dang Ahobbs showed up, I gotta be on point because I know he’s coming with it” Which means Ive gotta dial in the car, I have all the parts to so just seat time. Up north they have the 67mm class which I like, but Id like to see that happen down south. I wanna attempt to be the fastest 67mm in Texas. (yep I said it) Nothing wrong with wanting to go fast and make everyone else want to do the same. This is our sport, we make it what it is. Im competitive and have a good spirit at heart. A little Smack talking just always makes it fun. I plan to put in work so we can step the south up. We have some hardcore racers out here and we can hold our own. Im sure a tranny will be on order at some point this yr. But im gonna beat up the two i have until they break. Im sure someone is gonna make me upgrade to a 10pt cage as well..lol Im At an 8pt right now, but I’m running it till they say otherwise.

Where we will see you next: The car will be at ALL local IFO events as long as the funds are there. Local meaning anything within 6-7hrs of me. and Maybe something like a honda-day or E-town event if the money is right……….ONE MAN SHOW HERE. I will drive it to some local meets and since it looks good I may drop it in a few car shows that are just car shows here locally. I’m sure I will test out the Traction control on my Et Streets . Nothing crazy I have to much on the line.

Joe Simpson is back!

Look who came out of the bay, from behind the welding mask! A number of people have spoken and it seems that people can barely contain their excitement for the 2011 season. Everyone is looking healthy and eager to get back out making passes.

The color of this car is just raw, and much better than the previous form of white when he picked it up. Seems that the car did not need much in bodywork, but such a great welding hand, the bay for reworked quickly! I am expecting this to be on the track very soon.

Jenny Wyatt , a master behind the lens, shot these photos over the weekend at The 15th annual World Cup Finals @MIR. The event was nothing short of memorable, and she captured the essence of this event with her Nikon with a smile on her face the entire time while doing so.

I met Jenny over the weekend while photographing the World Cup Finals. Her photos that were posted of different events over the past 2 years have been on my screen numerous times, and people talk extremely well about her work. Meeting up was total accident while walking by Coffey’s Em1, and what a good meeting it was. As I payed attention back at the tree, she walked around and got different views of the race, while keeping her smile on. I knew that enjoyment was heavy, so we had to talk to her and get her story. Check it out!

1. To many people, including the MIR staff, this race is one of largest races of the year. Is this event your favorite?

Absolutely! Nothing compares to World Cup Finals. The mix of imports and domestics running in the same classes really sets it apart from everything else. The energy at the race is indescribable, people are there to break records or blow up trying to. The amount of hard work that both MIR and all of the racers to prepare for the event really shows — I think that is what ends up setting the stage for an incredible weekend. From a photography standpoint you really get it all with the mix of classes and cars and also the opportunity to take day and night shots. It seems like there is always something exciting happening to get dramatic shots of, unfortunately I always end up watching and forgetting to take pictures! It seems like WCF gets bigger and better every year, I am already looking forward to next year!

2. Which racers had you on your toes this weekend? Were you pulling for anyone?

Randy Owens in All Motor Street – I’ve seen firsthand all of his hard work to get his car where it is. He is going fast with something different, which is always respectable. I can’t count how many times he has been on Tempest’s dyno because he tweaked this or changed that, he is going fast because he has put in the time to find what works.

Adam Drake in Wild Street – Adam, his wife Vicky and daughter Nicole came all the way down to Maryland from Canada for World Cup Finals for the third year in a row. When he went a 9.27 (bettering his previous time by 7 tenths) I totally freaked out!

David Wolfe in Radial – After hearing about his 6.5 pass in testing @ MIR on Friday I couldn’t wait to see this car in person.

Chris Miller in Wild Street – whether you love him or love to hate him his car is exciting to watch, I don’t know how he does it but he keeps going faster before anyone has a chance to catch up.

True Street – The whole class is exciting, it’s huge and keeps getting faster. I’m anxious to see if an 8 second pass will happen in 2010 – I was hoping to see it last weekend!

3. What are your favorite 5 photos of the weekend, and why?

– This is my favorite type of drag race picture and it totally sums up the weekend – it’s an Import vs. a Domestic with the (huge) crowd in the background, what’s not to love?

– This one just came out really well… I think I take a mean burn-out picture!

– Again, another good burn-out shot, this time at night. I rarely get to shoot at night so I was super excited with how this one came out! I also love the changes to Paul Major’s Corvette, it looks mean!

– Love the car, angle, and light in this picture, but what really makes it is the huge crowd in the background! It won’t be long until Brian Fisher goes an 8!

– This one came out really cool, it looks like smoke is trying to escape from every opening possible. Tim Grey’s hatch is always one I look forward to taking pictures of, you can always count on him to be at every race.

4. Jenny, I have seen your photos for about 2 years now that I can remember. How did you end up starting?

I started back in 2007 (gray coupe era!), I loved going to the track but I always felt like I wasn’t contributing anything. I’m the type that doesn’t like to sit around so I brought a point and shoot camera to a race, snapped a few pictures and keep progressing from there.

5. We are all jealous of you for your short trip to the track, since its in your back yard. Does this mean you get a good amount of practice at your shooting?

I would like to say yes, but World Cup Finals was actually only the third time I took pictures at a race in 2010! With no Tempest Racing car to travel with we pretty much went to races to hang out and have fun, not that taking pictures isn’t fun, I just had a different mindset this year.

6. Will we see more of your work coming in 2011?

Much more! Joe will be out with a new car in 2011, which means more races and a renewed sense of excitement! Greasy Blocks feature??? haha!

I would also like to say thank you to Jason Miller and all of the MIR staff for putting on World Cup Finals! It was definitely an event worth freezing your ass off for! Jason has never turned me away from shooting at events and I really appreciate that. I’m sure Jason is already getting started on WCF 2011, hopefully he plans on taking a vacation before then!

Just pulled into MIR, yet the cold weather and motors warming up is the wakeup call!

This weekend coming up, Maryland is the spot. The 15^th annual World Cup Finals is taking place at MIR. Usually known or referred to as Import vs Domestic, this race is another iconic race and is the closing of the season for many teams . I have been looking forward to the chance to travel to this race for some time now, and to be able to go with NRG Tech is an added bonus. For any true drag enthusiast, this race is always a fun race to watch videos and view results from. The Domestic cars are strong, and the Import cars are surprising, and when you mix the classes from each of these markets, shit can get interesting. Outlaw vs Extreme, Radial vs Modified, and 275 vs Hot Rod. , I truly cannot wait to see how it goes down. Greasy Blocks will be in attendance to give you all of the play by plays as they happen, and keep you in the loop. Random bloggings will occur, radical shit will be posted, pictures for days, and much more can be found over the next few weeks around here detailing what you might find if you were to attend this race. Stay locked in!
