Jeremy Swain, a notorious Honda builder from Bama just popped back into the game with a new build up. This time, he’s on the right side!

Greasy will be following people all year long. So become acquainted with Jeremy and his Civic Type R, you will see his ugly face around these parts! We have to admit though, a CTR of any flavor, but especially yellow, gets us excited! J, if you don’t watch out, that car might get real Greasy!

Jeremy’s Stat Sheet:

Daily Grind: Well I went to school to shoot xray’s, but ended up in the Electrical business with my Dad. Can’t beat working with your Dad.
What made you get another Honda: I’ve loved Hondas since I was 16, specifically the Ek’s. I sold my first hatch, and soon after regretted it, and jumped back into an EM1. That car became too much of a garage queen to be fun, and I lost interest in the build. Now 2 years later, I was presented with the oppurtunity to buy a real deal Civic Type R, and anyone in the Honda game knows thats the one car that everyone strives to replicate, from the headlights to the rear lip. So I couldn’t pass it up, and went head first back into the game.
The hell in registering it: If you’ve ever tried to register a grey market vehicle you know it’s a real PITA. I haven’t completed my registery yet, all my paper work is at a translation service to meet the DMV’s request. After that it’s off to a meeting with the Tax Commisioner.
Plans for it: I want to go a different direction than I have in the past. This time, it’s all about function and improvement. If I spend 2k dollars, I don’t want a set of triple dipped candy CPR’s. I want 15 more whp, or 30 feet knocked off my 60-0 distance. Honda provided such a good base with the CTR that with a few adjustments it could be a lethal street car. In the end I want a car that I can daily to work, hit the track on Saturday, and still bring home a trophy at a show, or meet.
Where you’ll see me next: You can catch me everyday in and around Birmingham, then I’ll be at all the southeast meets this spring/summer.

Jeff aka The Street Mechanic linked up with Greasy on some Q&A about the 2010 All Motor Shootout, which was held over the weekend. Check it out!

Jeff is my dude, and we seem to keep constant weekly contact on whats going on, whats up, how is fam, and more. Jeff was one we were pulling for at the All Motor Shootout and I did not to get to do a pre-shootout interview. Better late than never!

1. You went out there with a goal to get some good passes and qualify. How hard was it to reach this goal in the packed class?

I went out there to support this event and make sure it went down like I did last year even though I was bringing a knife to a gun fight. My intentions were being able to qualify with the best of the best and take it one round at a time those big dogs don’t scare me lol. Shoutout to my boy Jake for making this happen it was great having us all on the same battle field.

2. Did you goto the track with hands to help, or are you a one man team? We know its not easy to keep everything together pass by pass while you are trying to stay focused on the best passes possible.

I am a one man show I build my own cars my own motors and check my own logs after each pass I have had little to no help most of the season and still travel and make it to races with no excuses when its time to run.

Its really tough to do by yourself but I wanted to go fast on my own before letting anyone in on my program this year, we will see what next year has in store for me.

3. How did the ek do? It is the fastest all motor ek in the country, were you able to break off a .70?

I think it did decent since an ek is more of a road racing car vs a drag car but I still have to make some chassis adjustments and get the car dialed in some more, I am just now getting in the grove.

Fastest in the country not trying to claim that fame but from what others have told me when team clutch masters had there ek out there it went 10.88 @ 128 in Boti trim if that’s the case its the quickest not fastest I am cool with a 10.73 @ 126mph for now.

4. How did the car feel off of the line?

Car felt pretty good but same as usual but I went all in for this event there was no holding back which worked out pretty good, I am still getting the car dialed in.

5. You have been in the racing game for some time. How does this event at Etown compare to the past events you have been to? Is the Fall Nationals the perfect event for import cars?

I started street racing back in 1997 but started racing at the track the in 2001 this is my first year running in a heads up sportsman class, but I have been building motors for the past 10 years for shops and other racers that have been doing well.

All OGS events are great. Fall nationals has always been my favorite event the best of the best always come out to compete and having the outlaw and all motor shootout just puts icing on the cake.

6. What kind of power is the car making now?

It makes good hp lets just say its enough to compete with the big dogs out there I just need to get that hp down the track. A dog box with custom gear ratios will put me where I need to be.

7. What was your favorite pass of the weekend that you made? What was the best pass that you watched from the sidelines? Who was your favorite racer of the weekend?

I am an All Motor guy so you know it was my man Jose (prostock) Bello lol.

Best race I watched from the side line was Kevin Van Natten vs Gato that was a close race.

My favorite racer that’s tough everyone came out and gave it there best but if I have to choose one it’s Eric Medina aka Yosolo he did his thing at the shootout. Also shoutout to Chris Miller and Team NRG him and his whole team did there thing this weekend they were very impressive.

8. Do you feel the larger companies in our industry should start a racing campaign in 2011? Do you think it will help our sport?

There are some companies that help its definitely not enough they could step up an give money towards the payouts at least. We need a sanctioning body to get involved and a point series up here I feel that will help our sport since we spend more money to make it to an event to race than what the payouts is. I am far from the fastest car out there but I am one of the most dedicated racers that goes to races to compete and keep the sport alive without crying about what others have.

9. Are you on a stock trans? If so, how many have you broken, and are you currently planning to work with any companies on a gear set for the new season coming up?

Yes I am running a stock trans and some stock axles that I have been running for 5 years when I first put my k swap in. I broke one trans on Honda day at Etown this year but I never broke an axle knock on wood lol. I don’t have any trans companies at this time. PPG, Frana, Par or Gforce would be nice. I know car will go 10.6x with a stock trans but when I slap in a dog box or custom gearing in the car next year it will be a whole different animal et should drop .2 tenths minimum.

10. Who was in your corner this year?

Tunnel Vision Racing, API Tuning, Blueprint Racing, Xenocron, Go-pwr, Comp Clutch, Chase Bays and 4 Piston Racing. Luke and Josh at 4 Piston Racing have been great to work with this year they have put in a lot of support into what I was trying to accomplish this year.

Street Mechanic

I will just call him Jeff, because for those of you who do know him and do business with him, he and you are on a first name basis. When he calls, there is no hello, no hi, or any soft greetings of that nature. Instead, you get the bullshitting tones you hear when you 1st walk into the garage at your local shop, or most of the automotive dealership’s tech bays around the US. This dude gives it up straight. I have no worries that you guys will come to enjoy the stories of him and his time around Greasy Blocks, along with his EK. I hope this thing does well during the season, because he put enough time into it on his kitchen table. Dude seriously needs his own shop, but ill let you guys be the judge of that!

The following posts on Jeff and his buildup of his k24 Ek are straight from his hip, and by that I mean straight from his blackberry. Forget the pics that everyone thinks you should see, these fully edited shots, Jeff is straight up raw from every angle, and you will come to see that when you see pics of Jeff taking blocks out on the ground in snow!
