Jeremy Swain, a notorious Honda builder from Bama just popped back into the game with a new build up. This time, he’s on the right side!

Greasy will be following people all year long. So become acquainted with Jeremy and his Civic Type R, you will see his ugly face around these parts! We have to admit though, a CTR of any flavor, but especially yellow, gets us excited! J, if you don’t watch out, that car might get real Greasy!

Jeremy’s Stat Sheet:

Daily Grind: Well I went to school to shoot xray’s, but ended up in the Electrical business with my Dad. Can’t beat working with your Dad.
What made you get another Honda: I’ve loved Hondas since I was 16, specifically the Ek’s. I sold my first hatch, and soon after regretted it, and jumped back into an EM1. That car became too much of a garage queen to be fun, and I lost interest in the build. Now 2 years later, I was presented with the oppurtunity to buy a real deal Civic Type R, and anyone in the Honda game knows thats the one car that everyone strives to replicate, from the headlights to the rear lip. So I couldn’t pass it up, and went head first back into the game.
The hell in registering it: If you’ve ever tried to register a grey market vehicle you know it’s a real PITA. I haven’t completed my registery yet, all my paper work is at a translation service to meet the DMV’s request. After that it’s off to a meeting with the Tax Commisioner.
Plans for it: I want to go a different direction than I have in the past. This time, it’s all about function and improvement. If I spend 2k dollars, I don’t want a set of triple dipped candy CPR’s. I want 15 more whp, or 30 feet knocked off my 60-0 distance. Honda provided such a good base with the CTR that with a few adjustments it could be a lethal street car. In the end I want a car that I can daily to work, hit the track on Saturday, and still bring home a trophy at a show, or meet.
Where you’ll see me next: You can catch me everyday in and around Birmingham, then I’ll be at all the southeast meets this spring/summer.

Miller, always a favorite around Greasy Blocks, checks back in for a post Outlaw Shootout for another interview. See what this past weekend was like for the 2010 BW Outlaw Champion!

Chris Shook things up in his last interview. Emails rolled in, forums lit up with page after page comment about how much of an ass he was, and I even got calls about it. This guy point blank pissed off a lot of people. This past weekend though, NRG Tech stood strong and made statement after statement. We are going to talk to Chris to see more on how his weekend went down. We have drama to!

1. Miller Miller Miller! The last interview we did raised some eyebrows, and raked in over 15,000 page views in just over 3 weeks.You talked a big game in the last one, but now it looks like you went out and proved it. Were you nervous going into the event Saturday morning?

Nervous? Why would I be nervous? Its just another day at the office. Once its race day the nerves are calm and my mind switches to race mode. From that point on nervous doesn’t exist as a feeling.

I am stoked that so many people read the last interview and that is what’s its all about. I had numerous people this past weekend tell me that they were at the track just cause of the drama that unfolded due to that interview. That’s what it is all about right? Giving the fans a show on and off the track. Something to keep it all fresh in their mind. Something for everyone to talk about leading into the next race.

2. The competition all wanted to cut that ass at the race. Did you have any pre race chat with the competition or was it straight business and last minute prep?

I talk to everyone or at least mostly everyone. We all were there to have a good time and race and that’s what we did. I had to put my car together at the track Friday night as I got my trans parts on the way to the track Friday. Once I was done putting my car back together we all spent some time catching up and having a little fun before heading out to dinner then back to the room for a little sleep. I mean a little, I think I got a total of about 6 hours in 3 nights. Lol. Have to love race weekends.

3. What were the track conditions like this weekend? Any Complaints?

Fuck no, etown does an amazing job to make sure the track is safe and the prep is good. OGS stays on top of shit and with them working together we have a safe track to run down and it never crosses my mind of there being an issue track related. Thanks to the whole etown crew and OGS for the great track and sorry to the 3 guys at the end of the track who would go running every time I came into the last turnoff hot. Lol.

4. That 8.43 pass Saturday night. I was sitting on the computer, watching the live feed. When you ran that, the forums came alive with chatter. Many said that it was a poor decision to run that considering that you were facing disqualification. Was that run to make a point?

You know what, fuck them. Yeah I know, it was stupid, I am unprofessional, blah blah blah. You want unprofessional well there it is. If you could put a number on the board like that you would. So to all the little keyboard warriors. Fuck off and keep saying how stupid of a move it was while sitting at your computer desk. Not one person came up to me and said how “stupid” it was. Its only the jerk-offs who are sitting home behind a computer screen with Honda tech on one tab and redtube on the other. The thing that gets me is that a lot of the keyboard warriors, e-racers or whatever you wanna call em don’t even come to the events. We had people from the uk, panama, canada, DR, PR, italy and many other places yet the online warriors didn’t show there face. They can’t be bothered to actually go to a race.

But to answer your question, yes it was to prove a point. And yes to answer the question that some have asked. Yes, the car can possibly, just maybe go a little quicker . Lol.

5. The with the money on the line, were you out for the money, or did making a statement mean more to you and your business?

The money is great, all spent already. Lol. We got a little crazy at Fridays after the win on Sunday and a bar tab and dinner tab for 56 people gets up there quick. Lol. Fuckin speed factory had like 20 something people. Lol. It was all worth it. Had a great time and got the west cost guys coming back next year to do it all over again. But its all about having fun at the end of the day. I could have put the car on the trailer after breaking cert on both ends and been happy cause that’s what I said I was gonna do but I wanted to win the event and complete the weekend.

6. NRG Tech Racing rolled strong this weekend at the event setting record after record. Now that the fall nationals is history, do you have any other races you are setting your eyes on or is this it for you this year?

Man this weekend was crazy, we left etown with 3 records, obviously the outlaw one but the other 2 really meant a lot to me also. Cause the 2 fuckers give their all to this sport, from sleeping in trucks and spending countless days at the shop and hotels and just giving all they have to give to make races. In all motor street with jose “pepsi” bello and his 10.16@132, that was amazing. I thought I was gonna bump my head on the tower I jumped so high. Lol. kevin van natten with 3 back to back 8 second passes in sfwd trim. The plan was to run sfwd with kevins car but we decided last minuter to fatten up the outlaw field. These are 2 cars I am proud to tune and be apart of. Part of the nrg family.

Sorry for the rant but I am so fuckin happy for those 2 guys right there, but yes we still have 2 races on the schedule. World cup at MIR and NSCRA world finals in December at pbir. Just cause we love racing.

7. There is the talk now that tracks could blackflag you for not having the proper safety equipment for the car. Are you going to change to the 25.5 spec cage and have the car re-certified now, or are you going to retire the car?

There is a lot of talk of what is going to happen for next season but I guess everyone is gonna have to keep checkin back here at greasy blocks and nyce’1s through out the winter for the official 2011 press release video.

8. We always go right to what we want to say about the industry, but industry isn’t everything. What has this year been like for you? Has be been a lot of ups and downs? Also, does this win bring and new record bring some fresh air and a chance for you to relax a little bit?

The industry is what it is, it is up to us to put on a show and put the interest back into peoples heads and we are trying to do that. This year for me has had its fair share of ups and downs business wise and I made a few bad investments but that’s business/life. You pick up and keep your head high and move on. As I always say,” it could be worse”.

Relax? There is no relaxing. You relax and you get left behind. Our team doesn’t relax, we all push each other. We all have the drive to win and be the best at what we do. I have a lot of new ideas and things to fix or make better to keep going faster and faster. 2011 is going to be another great season and I see this sport on its the upswing.

9. There was talk of a crack in your cylinder head either in the semi finals or the finals. What was the deal with that, and what did you guys do to fix it?

The head was cracked after qualifying. It was cracked on the 8.43@181 qualifier and just got worse and worse each pass. It is what it is. I made a mistake and it bit me in the ass or should say it almost bit me in the ass. With these cars the egt’s get so hot when back pressure is too high and I ran the car with too much boost and too much fuel. So egt’s were through the roof and that led to some cracked exhaust ports. We did a quick fix and just had to make sure I didn’t let the engine cool off too much. That’s part of racing. It wouldn’t be a racing weekend for us if everything went smooth. Has to be some drama.

10. Last, What was your favorite pass of the weekend that you made? What was the best pass that you watched from the sidelines? Who was your favorite racer of the weekend?

That’s a hard one, the 8.43@181 was crazy but so was the quickest and fastest side by side fwd street cars with kevin van natten in the other lane. I mean that was crazy as I tune that car also and that pass meant a lot. The round with reynolds was awesome, I live for those moments at the tree. And of course can’t forget the finals, I mean come on. Sending those west coast fags packing was great, lol. Sorry SF crew, someones gotta be that guy and it seems like its me. Lol

From the sidelines was pepsi 10.16 and kevins first 8. I was lucky enough to be at the line for both of those.

Favorite racer? Hmmm I don’t know. I have to say cunha, that guy and his crew are fuckin die hard. They never give up and know how to blow shit up. That’s my type of racer. Someone who doesn’t give a shit and will do whatever it takes to make it happen on race day.

After Miller and I talked, and I let these questions sizzle a little, we started to chit chat again via text. This guy completely changed my outlook on this weekend and the racers who raced. Everyone made sacrifices, everyone had problems, and at the end of the day, everyone had a different outlook on each other.

Miller added when we were talking:

I want to tell you a little something that has been on my mind. Shortly after the last interview I ran into someone who in this industry that I respect very much and that is Mr. Charlie Schafer. He just like everyone else read my last interview and he said something that has stuck in my head. He said to me ” this isn’t the wwe, trash talkin like that won’t get you far in this industry”. Now don’t get me wrong I totally understand where he is coming from and like I said I respect him and thank him for his advice but I am not asking for anything from the industry. I am not asking for the corporate sponsors who want to clean up my image or make me a robot. I do this shit cause I love it. Racing is in my fuckin blood and its my life. I will do what I can how I can with what I got. If sponsors don’t wanna help me cause I curse and talk shit, then I don’t wanna be affiliated with them either. Until the day comes where I can’t race or I decide to take a step back a little I will continue to be me and me is what you will get. If you don’t like me, well take a look at the right sleeve on my track shirts and you will understand.

I will keep reading that over and over.

NAH2B’s All Motor FWD Street class H2B setup goes 10.58@129, making him the fastest H-Series All Motor street car in the land! See what Randy has to say about that run and his tuning…

H2B setups hit and spread like wildfire. But even with the proven power of the H-series motor, people said it would not stand a chance against the K-series. Randy Owens  has recently put faith back into the H motors. With his 10.58@129 at MIR last weekend, Randy not only is the fastest H-series All Motor street car, but he is now a strong competitor in the upcoming All Motor Shootout.

1. Congrats on breaking off a 10.5 @MIR! What was going through your mind on that pass?

i was just trying to get it to hook since i blew the tires off on the pass before. it felt good out of the hole, i knew it was a clean pass but had no idea it was a .50 pass. felt more like a .70 so i was shocked when i looked at the slip.

2. 129 is a good bit of mph, especially for a H2B setup. Any last minute tuning?

Yeah Joe @ Tempest Racing got me in at 8am before the event for a quick re-tune after earlier in the week we found the intake manifold was choking the new engine. Brad @ RLZ made a few suggestions so i got to work just before the weekend. he was dead on and we are definitely heading in the right direction now.

3. Will we be seeing you at the All Motor Shootout in 2 weeks?

i was not planning on racing the shootout due to personal issues at home lately. however i was just offered a lot of help to get there from several good friends. Ritchie and Josh @ JDMCARS.com, my NJ bro Jake Gavio, and other close friends are stepping up to get me to the shootout. that kind of help is very generous and greatly appreciated. its great to have good friends and associates like that and i wont dare turn them down. so yes i think you just may see me at the shootout after all!!

The setup consists of:

• carrillo h22 rods
• RLZ Engineering cnc ported cylinder head and cnc valvejob 350 cfm
• Ferrea valves (+1/36mm intake)
• skunk2 pro3 cams and valvesprings

• Header, Intake Manifold, and All engine building done by Randy himself

Everyone knows what Miller said he is not running at the Fall Nationals, but read here to see what he had to say to GreasyBlocks on the Airwerks by Borg Warner Turbo Systems $10,000 Outlaw Street FWD Shootout at the upcoming Sport Compact Fall Nationals!

1. Since we are no strangers to interviews, I am just going to jump straight in and go at you with the “will we see you racing?” line.

Miller: Fuck yeah, you really think I was not going to race. I held out and said I wasn’t racing for one reason and one reason only. Now that the issue has been resolved I am gonna be there and taking the big plastic check back to NY with me where it belongs…

2. You said you have been on the brakes with these .60s and these 170+ passes. Why tease us?! Break that cert!

Miller: I am not saying I was on the brakes for my .60 passes but I will say it wasn’t turned up all the way. I have been on the brakes a good amount this season and there are many reasons for that. I have said it time and time again I can make my car go a .6x down a dirt road. I proved that in NC, while everyone was bitching about the track conditions and how bad shit was I just tuned to the track. That is most peoples problem, they are racing the person next to them and not the track or the conditions. You have to take it all into account and attack the tune up as so. When RLZ went a 9.0 in the prior round to racing me last weekend I knew I had to do something and that something wasn’t running an .8x. I had to take a good look at the track and the conditions and attack the round as I needed a low .7x or high .6x and that’s what I did.  I broke cert already, 180 at atco last year. Ill break the et cert, i am not worried about that. I concentrate my efforts on winning one round at a time and one event at a time. Breaking cert is something that will happen but I wont throw away a win over it.

3. Has the car been consistent over the past few months or are you still working with it to get it dialed in just right?

Miller: The car is consistent enough to win races right now but I am still not happy.  I have been trying out a lot of new things and still trying to push the envelope. That is what keeps us ahead of the pack. We never rest, never stop trying to better the program. This is why my car is the most influential car in outlaw fwd drag racing and anyone who doesn’t agree with that is lying to themselves. We work very closely with many companies to get their products better and better. It is then once it is all figured out that everyone else gets to benefit from them. Look at companies like Drive Shaft Shop, Precision Turbo, Spec Clutch, EFI wizard, Web Cams and that is to just name a few. We test and test and test these products, break them and work along with these companies so that they can better there product and so that racers know they are getting the best product they can receive. That is why these companies along with NRG tech is on top. None of use are ever content with our current state. Always wanting to take it to the next level. There are a lot of new things that will be revealed this upcoming winter for the 2011 season, and a few new companies we are working with. Keep your eyes open for some press releases coming out in the near future.

4. NRG Tech is once again looking strong this year. How many cars do you guys have confirmed for this years event?

Miller: We will have a few, an exact count is not available right now. A lot of people had a bad 2010 and we are trying our hardest to get as many cars there this year as possible but a lot of these cars are still apart and only time will tell when they will be ready to go.

5. Speedfactory, TDautowerks, T1, and a few others are wanting to crack the ass of the magician. What do you have to say to your competitors?

Miller: Really? Out of the 3 you mentioned only one is even worth my time to write about and that is T1. Tony, Mike, Nelly and the rest of the T1 crew are a talented group and innovators. They aren’t the copy paste, pray for a miracle type of team. They know why things happen and how to make things happen. Hopefully we will get to line up in October at some point and like I told Tony, that number 2 qualifier spot has his name written all over it.  If I hurt anyone’s feelings, well I am sorry. I will mail you a box of fuckin tissues, Damian(td autowerks), yours are already in the mail playboy.

6. Who do you think would be your strongest competitor at the event? My southern boys run strong!

Miller: Read my response to #5 and you will understand. At the end of the day the north east runs fwd drag racing, TEAM NORTH STAND UP!!!!

7. Last year, you had a crazy week before the event. I called you on the phone and you guys were camping out at the shop! Are we going to get a repeat of that?

Miller: Yeah dude, last year was nuts but that is how this place is every time before any event. It is like that right now before the NSCRA finals this weekend. We usually have a team of at least 5 cars at any given event and that equals a lot of long hours leading to any event. I don’t think fall nationals will be any different at all.

8. Do you think that the Fall nationals has taken the sport to new levels and pushed the competitive nature of import drag racing?

Miller: I think fall nationals is one of the events that has shown people what this sport still has left in it. From the all motor class to the sfwd class, to the quick 32 class this event is plain out sick. Nobody should miss this event. Nobody.

9. I see you had fuel pump issues that you said lead to 3 different engine failures? are you going to keep requesting that the rules be opened to allow mechanical fuel pumps instead of just electronic?

Miller: I have lost 2 engines to be exact to fuel pump issues. I asked and got the answers I needed, like I said a lot of things will be revealed in the upcoming months. People need to keep checking back

10. What do you say to everyone out there who is hesitating or “thinking” of putting in drivers deposits?

Miller: It is tough, I understand a lot of cars aren’t done and people are tight with money but the people who have a done car need to get the deposits in.

On Saturday, while we were on our way back from the SICC rain out, my friend Jared hit the blackberry messenger with a message saying lets meet up when we are rolling through Columbia. Through some more rain, dark sections of I-95 and I-20, some of the best southern non-top 40 music I have heard lately, and a few energy drinks, we got to Cola about midnight. Rolling up, we pulled in right behind Jared and before you know it, I am already out of the car combing one of the holy grails to most Honda Owners.

Check this shit out!

Plans for this car are said to be only a few minor mods, but knowing Jared’s history of cars, and also having documented coverage of his history of cars I think it is safe to say we will see this thing modded up in the future! Til then, I plan to sit back and watch with open eyes!

Yesterday, after getting a number of emails and texts about my post about the All Motor Shootout, I was sitting here on Youtube just looking at the responses from some of the videos that I posted hyping up the Shootout and also the Outlaw race. The urge came to get contact a few who are racing in the event and to ask them a few questions.

The 1st person I decided to contact was Jerry Guzman aka the Infamous “JerryBuilt”  to ask him a few questions and clear up some of these posts that I am seeing on several forums. I sent an email out over Youtube to Daniel Alaniz to possibly get in touch with Jerry, so that Greasyblocks could set peoples minds right, instead of just talk smack. Within 30 minutes I already had an email back and a phone number.

Last night, I sat down and had the conversation with Jerry over the phone instead of through email. Some things are just meant to be talked about directly, and this was the best way in the situation. Here are the questions straight up that I asked Jerry, along with his responses.

GB: What made you turn the yard into a “shop”

Jerry:  Back when I got my 1st car in 93-94, I worked at Atomic Performance with Dr. Charles.  I was fucking around with cars, building engines, and learning more and more along the way. After Atomic, I worked over at Import Builders for a bit til I just got tired of working for everyone else. I said fuck it, I know what I’m doing, why don’t I do this for myself. So that’s why the backyard is the shop now. I do everything from home. I work on everything too, me and my brother. We do it all.

GB: How long have you been laying it down? (drag racing cars)

Jerry:  Back when I got that Accord in 93-94, I was out right then. Since then I have been doing it. It will never stop either, I will always be a drag racer. In 2003, I got the hatchback and ran with a built B-Series until I got the K-Series in 2005. I had many problems with it at 1st with hardly any help. The trannies were trash, but the dogbox quickly fixed that problem. Then it was on to the tentioners and those were a little more work, but after I figured that out it was on to the electronic issues and we started getting better runs in.

GB: Do you feel drag racing will make a come back to the feeling it had years ago, now that the cars are much faster?

Jerry: Its always been the same for us. Since like the mid 90s we have been running on the track and on the street. But when fast and furious came out, it kinda killed it. See, so many people that saw it on the screen came out and blew up the spot. Before that movie, cops could stop us and really didn’t know what they were looking at. We didn’t have to worry as much. At the races, we could stay at a spot for hours and not have to worry about getting busted. But, after that movie came out, we had to cut back. So many people were coming out, being idiots, and now everyone with a body kit thought they were a racer. It really hurt street racing as a whole. It will never get as big as it was, but possibly we might see more people coming back who will actually race, now that the K-Series is easier to build.

GB:  On record, since there seems to be talk on forums from the east, DID SKUNK2 give you that motor?

Jerry:  NO they didn’t give me that motor. But they did let me borrow, not give me, the throttle body setup on the car. They also supplied me with some Skunk2 cams and a good bit of dyno time. Charles stayed on the dyno countless hours helping over the last week or 2. Oscar Jackson helped us out big time with an alignment too. And who wouldn’t want Oscar working on their car? The man has history. Dr. Charles too, being one of the fathers of import drag racing. I was happy to have their help.

GB:  What was the initial thought that made you and the fellas come together and say “lets make this trip to the east coast”

Jerry: Tim Grey aka TGR! (this response was hella quick, too!) Tim Came to Cali and won one event and claimed to be the King of Cali. To be the king, you have to do a sweep. I won 3 times back to back at Irwindale. I have been to tracks all over Cali. That would be like me going to this event and winning then claiming I am the king of the east coast. Its not possible. You gotta sweep. I also have never been out of Cali, travel or anything, so its going to be a new experience for me, a big experience at that.

GB: Do you want to see any other events like this? (east coasters on the west coast perhaps?!)

Jerry: Do I? How about every month man! I love this shit, and like I have said over and over this is what we do. It will never die for us. If the events are closer (mid states perhaps) more Cali guys and more racers can possibly attend. I think that this should go down next year, it would really help the sport.

Jerry and I spoke a little bit more after the questions and here are few things that he let me in on that i would like to share:

-the trip funding: We didn’t have the money to just bounce to the north east like that. We collected money from whomever wanted to see the car run out there. We hit up a bunch of shops, the homeboys chipped in, everyone helped. Some shops and people gave me a few hundred here and there, but there was no big money given out.  I worked on the car places to get it done in time, it was a big effort and I thank everyone for the help. Thanks to all who helped BTW.
-what he wants to do at the race: I don’t know anyone out there. I am excited to meet people. I want to compete, but like everyone, my main goal for this trip, going there racing, and anything of the type is to win. Whenever people come out to the west we try to show them a home away from home and help where it is needed. I hope we see the same. (I am a witness to this help and respect given when out in Cali from the east coast at events.)

That interview with Jerry helped me out get to know one of the biggest names in street racing on the video sites. There are so many memorable videos to watch.  DJM productions, Daniel Alaniz and his Street Dreams video, Sonics channel, zendejs all of these guys are strong with video content from the Cali spots. Tune in!

Big ups to you Jerry and crew. I know that I said im pulling for the east coast while we were on the phone but I swear, if you win, I will plaster that news and some major props all over Greasyblocks for you! Make it a good event man!

It’s Fall Nationals time, and just in case you didn’t know it’s a pretty big race going down in Jersey this weekend (Oct. 3-4) and there looks to be drama in the All Motor Shootout!

I am seeing a lot of talk about the big race in Jersey this weekend. My man Julian from Nyce1s.com (you will all get to know nyce1s around these areas really well BTW!) has hit me up all weekend about this, and we have been anticipating it more than guys looking for a peep show from Meagan Fox! We have both come to the conclusion that it will be one of the best races in the last few years. The talk as went to the tube and turned into basically a video call-out march with some of the most known names being dead in the middle of the stirring pot!

$5,o0o All Motor Shootout!

This is where the most talk has come from. The east coast guys were calling guys from the threads on numerous forums to get out here. While it looked like none would show, yet there was still talk in the threads, JerryBuilt and Skunk2 made the walk to finish up on Jerry’s race car and get out here. Big ups for even doing it instead of talking a bunch of trash in the threads like some we don’t need to name.

I saw a lot of talk about how Skunk2 gave Jerry a motor. I have picture proof that Jerry had his own monster motor in that car for quite some time. Its kinda sad some of the talk I saw from some people on there, but even worse from some Skunk2 supporters.

Also, there is some Tri-State battles boiling to a head!

This Race should be an Interesting tale for sure! I am heavily affiliated with Skunk2 but I am an east coaster and my money is on NYC! I Want to see the east coast take this, and since Greasyblocks is an east coast oriented publication, you guys our pull. But I will tell you guys that when Jerry comes to a race, it is all or noting. I sure know you North eastern boys have some strong stuff! The JerryBuilt logo is not for just looks like much of the west coast stuff talked about, there is power behind every JerryBuilt logo.
